TAKE A LOOK BACK
Our History
In 1981, Cathy Coats, Cathy Wikle, and Ginny Field were deeply touched after viewing a movie about abortion in their home church and determined that they would start a non-profit in Tupelo for women in unplanned pregnancies. As they talked through goals, the women stated, “Save 1 baby, and it’s all worth it!” The following year was spent sharing the movie and raising funds to get the non-profit off the ground. In January 1983, the very first Sav-A-Life in the state of MS was formed, and they began serving the women of Tupelo by providing pregnancy testing and counseling.
In 2009, Sav-A-Life officially changed its name to Parkgate Pregnancy Clinic and began a new season of ministry, by adding free sonograms to their services.
Over the years, the ministries and services have changed, but the mission has remained the same!
Parkgate exists to honor, support, and empower life-affirming choices through pregnancy testing, sonograms, counseling, prenatal vitamins, the baby closet, parenting classes, One by One mentoring program, post-abortive counseling, and EMPOWER classes taught at the middle and high schools.

Why it matters
We believe that from every dollar given to every dollar spent, our mission is to be good stewards of what has been given to us. Our donors can have full trust in what they give, knowing that each gift given is accounted for and used for the benefit of the client.
ECFA enhances trust in Christ-centered churches and ministries through its annual accreditation of organizations based on Seven Standards of Responsible Stewardship™, drawn from Scripture.
Founded 40 years ago by Billy Graham and other evangelical leaders, Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability has grown from a visionary and faithful group of 150 charter members to over 2,600 leading churches and ministries across the United States today.
ECFA serves as a financial accountability partner to ministries who voluntarily seek accreditation and continue to demonstrate their commitment to ECFA’s high standards faithfully. The standards are set at an appropriately high level to provide the essential guardrails for financial integrity in churches and ministries of all sizes. While admittedly, the standards do not address every potential issue or challenge an organization may encounter, they have stood the test of time in helping thousands of churches and ministries enhance trust and become better stewards of their God-given resources.
Additionally, ECFA promotes financial accountability and best practices through innovative resources, including books and eBooks, webinars, videos, podcasts, blogs, research in best practices, conferences, and more.
Heartbeat International‘s God-given vision advances the pregnancy help movement and is considered the largest network of pregnancy help ministries in the world. Heartbeat affiliation offers resources that help key staff, board, and workers at any level of a pregnancy help organization.
As a Care Net affliate, the primary mission of the pregnancy center is to share the compassion, hope, and help of Jesus Christ – both in word and deed – with those facing pregnancy decisions. The pregnancy center is equally committed to sharing the gospel of salvation through Jesus Christ with those it serves. Commensurate with these purposes, all board, staff, and regular volunteers, (and any non regular volunteers who interact with clients) of the pregnancy center have made a profession of faith to trust Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord.
