Andrea has been married to her childhood sweetheart, Matt Powell, for 17 years. They have 6 children (4 girls and 2 boys), 5 living and 1 in Glory.

In December 2019, Andrea found out on a Monday that she was expecting, and just 4 days later, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of Breast Cancer that was being fed by the pregnancy. Doctors told her that she needed immediate treatment, but that they could not provide it while she was in the first trimester. A true crisis pregnancy – Andrea’s life was at risk and an abortion was the top recommendation. The risk was great: aggressive cancer left untreated for 7 more weeks could spread and end up being fatal. Matt and Andrea believe that God is the author and giver of life; therefore, chose life for their baby. The road ahead was filled with surgery, chemo, and isolation due to COVID sweeping the country, but on July 22, 2020, Peter Samuel Powell was born at 36 weeks COMPLETELY healthy, and Andrea is now 3 years cancer free. The argument to allow abortion in the case of such a crisis pregnancy is one that Andrea walked; however, she believes and advocates that even in such extremely rare cases, abortion is not the answer.

Andrea’s role is to oversee all programs at Parkgate and ensure that each ministry and leader has what is needed to be fruitful.

Andrea believes that life, at every stage, is a gift and worthy of protection and love. God tells us that we are created in His image; therefore, we must speak for those who do not have a voice and use our gifts and resources to defend the helpless.

Andrea desires that every person who comes into Parkgate experiences the love of Jesus and receives the truth.
